How to choose the right donor?
The source of egg donors
Selecting an egg donor is a meticulous and complex process, involving various considerations. Similarities in race, characteristics, educational background, as well as personality traits of the donor may all be important factors in your decision-making process. Sometimes, an inexplicable strong affinity may arise due to a donor’s particular hobby.
In addition to emotional and objective factors, the most crucial aspect is ensuring the donor’s physical health and absence of significant genetic, medical, or psychological conditions in her family that could potentially affect the future child’s health. We understand that these criteria are paramount to you, and therefore, we carefully screen to ensure that every donor meets the highest health standards.

How to screen egg donors?
At Hoag Egg Donation, we uphold high standards and strict requirements for egg donors, including comprehensive assessments of their reproductive health, psychological well-being, genetics, and more. It is for this reason that our egg donation program has a very low acceptance rate, with fewer than 3% of applicants successfully selected.
Through such rigorous screening, we strive to ensure that every donor is of the highest quality and suitability. We understand that every intended parent has high hopes for their future baby, so we never compromise, aiming only to provide you with the safest and most reliable egg donation services.
Online Egg Donation Application
The online application is the first step in the egg donor screening process, allowing our recruitment managers to preliminarily filter out candidates who do not meet the donor qualifications.。
The form requires donors to provide detailed basic information, including height, weight, and ethnicity. These details help us understand the donor’s basic characteristics and provide foundational data for their potential match with recipient families. Additionally, donors must truthfully disclose any medical, psychological, or genetic history that they or their family members may have. The thoroughness of this step ensures that our egg donation program selects the healthiest and most suitable donors, providing safety and security for future families.

Egg Donor Profile and Medical Forms
After the initial screening, the recruitment manager will engage in in-depth communication with potential donors. This step aims to verify the authenticity of the application information while gaining a deeper understanding of the donor’s personal background and motivations for donation. We patiently address the donor’s questions and concerns about the donation plan, commitments required, and any other aspects of the process to ensure they have a clear understanding.
Additionally, donors are required to complete a detailed personal and medical questionnaire covering medical, psychological, and reproductive history, as well as personal traits and interests. Family medical history is also essential as it contributes to a comprehensive assessment of the donor’s genetic background.
Egg Donor Tests
Once deemed eligible, we arrange for donors to undergo a series of physical examinations. These tests help predict the potential number of eggs a donor may produce and assess any genetic risks.

01. Medical Consultation with Specialists
The first step in medical screening involves meeting with reproductive specialists to discuss the donor’s medical history and fertility. This consultation provides an opportunity for us to understand each candidate and their motivations for becoming an egg donor. For potential donors, it’s also a chance to engage with our team members and ask any questions about the egg donation process.

02. Ultrasound
Ultrasound provides direct insight into ovarian reserve capacity. Although it cannot entirely predict individual responses to medications, follicle counts provide valuable information for doctors to estimate the potential number of eggs.

03. Blood and Urine Tests
Blood and urine tests are conducted rigorously according to FDA regulations to screen donors for any infectious diseases, such as venereal diseases, including HIV, hepatitis, syphilis, gonorrhea, and chlamydia. These tests also ensure donors have not used prohibited or fertility-affecting medications, ensuring their health and safety.

04. Psychological Screening
To ensure the safety and smoothness of egg donation, all potential donors undergo comprehensive psychological screening by psychologists. This is to ensure donors possess the mental suitability to donate eggs and have a clear, comprehensive understanding of the entire donation process. At the same time, we highly value the psychological well-being of potential donors, ensuring they can maintain a calm mindset during the donation process and receive necessary emotional support. We provide essential psychological support and assistance to ensure they can successfully navigate this unique journey.

05. Carrier Screening for Genetic Disorders
In addition to consultations with genetic counselor, donors may undergo genetic screening to identify the risk of familial genetic diseases. Based on the donor’s racial background, we also conduct targeted genetic testing, such as testing for thalassemia for individuals of Southern descent and Tay-Sachs disease for Ashkenazi Jewish donors.
